(More customer reviews)...so I'll give it 3 stars ;o)
Wound up with this as a DOA sale item from an American retailer which sports a red bull's eye. Here's what I found inside the unit:
*A high-power LED assembly which was put together so poorly as to render the heatsink loose on the backside (retaining screws driven in cockeyed).Bad for thermal conductivity and lifespan.Looks like a good CREE device, though.
*A generic lead-acid 6V 2.5Ah (ahem, maybe) battery.Completely open-circuit right out of the box, with a cracked outer case to boot (no leaks, thank goodness).
*A PCB which was obviously hand assembled by partially-skilled Chinese labor; requiring modest rework to bring up to snuff.
Having the time and not wanting to waste what could be used, I've set to fixing it all. Will be replacing the nasty original battery with a 5-piece bundled set of 2.1Ah AA NiMh cells (look around here for reviews by "NLee the Engineer" bearing guidance to a bargain along these lines); and will poke about for a more sane 6V halogen with a draw a bit closer to 3C so as not to toast the new batteries in short order.
Overall, I'd definitely stay away from this item; as it's not much more than a bargain-basket project for bored hands...
