CygoLite TridenX 600 LED Li-Ion Xtra: Triple LED Bike Light with 5-hour Li-Ion Battery Review

I have typically done all of my winter riding in the mornings, so I've never needed a light strong enough for me to really see by. After all, the sun would be up soon enough, so I just needed the little extra protection from sleepy drivers that was provided by my "flasher" style bike light. However, a few months ago, I started riding in the evenings a couple of times a week with a reasonably fast (18 - 20+ mph) recreational group out of a local bike shop. Time to look for a bike that I could actually use to navigate the streets by.

The first light I tried was a Niterider Tri-Newt that was on closeout. That was a great light...when it worked. The cable that connected the lamp housing to the battery would never seat very snugly, so the slightest jostling meant that I would lose my light (no electricity, no light - obviously). I tried a number of different mounting locations for the battery and a number of different ways of trying to ensure that the cable stayed attached. Nothing worked for an entire ride, so it went back to the retailer.

I checked some gear reviews at a cycling website, and it looked like the MityCross product from Cygolite was well-liked, so I decided to try the TridenX next. I'm done. This is my light for the next while until it dies. The battery claims seven hours on high, and I believe it. After my Tuesday night rideand its two hours of riding plus an hour or so of transition (getting to the shop, waiting for the group to assemble, riding home), I decided that I would leave the battery strapped to the bike and go out on Thursday without a recharge. It handled the task like a champ. After the end of the second ride, the battery indicator was still showing more than an hour left on the battery. Granted its still a new battery, but this was definitely a mark in its favor.

As for slinging lumens, nothing is perfect. You want most of the light concentrated ahead of you, but still with good lighting in the periphery. I personally think this is tough to do for a single light with sufficient light output to really see by. However, the TridenX was easily the equal or better to the TriNewt in this respect. It doesn't turn day into night, but even the ultra expensive bike lights don't do that. Mountain bikers who ride at night through twisty singletrack will still want a second or third light (helmet plus peripheral), but roadies like me can easily get by at fairly decent speeds with just this one light on the front.

Having used it for a month now, there are a few nits to pick, but nothing I'd hold against it from the overall rating:
1) Since the unit has three LEDs, I'd like to have the ability to set one of them to "flash", leaving the other two on.
2) Getting the unit into flash mode is harder than it needs to be. One of the top buttons should be for flash and one for full-on.
3) I'd like to have a second mounting kit in the box. I think that many people who buy a light at this price point are going to move it from bike to bike, so a second mounting kit would be a nice, thoughtful touch. These are available separately, though, so no complaints.

Beyond that, I don't have any issues with the light. Here is what I think it does well:
1) Light output and balance between spot and flood beam patterns. It's very well balanced from a roadie's perspective.
2) Light output. I haven't mentioned that one of my riding companions thought I was a motorcycle the first time I rode up to the group with it on. That's a big compliment.
3) Mounting. I'm not sure about the user who had mounting issues (maybe the light wasn't pushed into the mount until it snapped?). My light mounts very securely on both my road bike and my mountain bike.
4) Size. For all that it is a seven hour battery, the battery itself is generally compact and easy to strap onto the bike that doesn't interfere with something else (e.g., water bottle, brake/derailleur cables).

Highly recommended.

Buyer beware!I know it's silly, but when I spend $100-160 (plus shipping!) for what I think is a solid solar USB charger, I kinda expect it to actually work.As large as this set of solar panels is, it is too weak to charge most iPods and newer cell-phones, even in very direct sunlight.I really did have high hopes for this product, and I really did not expect to leave poor feedback for it.As far as the seller is concerned, the product shipment was slow and was initially sent to the wrong address entirely in another state.I would definitely NOT purchase from this seller again.

Marinco 150BBI Marine On-Board Charger Inlet (15-Amp, 125-Volt, Black) Review

Marinco 150BBI Marine On-Board Charger Inlet

This is my second shore power plug (for a completely different use).

So far, I have one mounted in the truck acting as my Block Heater/Oil Pan heater plug (bumper mount;no more need to lift the hood to plug it in any more, or have the cord dangling out of the gtille) and as 'shore power' to my shed.I simply run a 100' 10/3 extension cord out to the shed and plug in, and voila, lights and outlets.$17 for this, $675 to run conduit and wire.. hmm. And, since I'm only in the shed after dark a few times a year, this'll do fine.Mount it in an exterior code weather box and off ya go.

Very solid product, well crafted. If the back is going to be exposed to the elements (as in a bumper mount), get some liquid electrical tape and put it around the 2 seams on the rubber boot.

CygoLite MityCross 350 LED Dual LED Bike Light with Stem-Mount Li-Ion Battery Review

CygoLite MityCross 350 LED Dual LED Bike Light with Stem-Mount Li-Ion Battery
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After researching various lights suitable for nighttime road use, I purchased the MityCross because of its light weight, bright beam, and lithium-ion battery (for cold weather and fast charging).I have had this light mounted on my handlebars for about 3 months now, and this is a huge step up from my previous 1W LED light.

The light is well constructed, using a thick handlebar mount, and a durable metal housing around the light, and the battery has a thick Velcro strap to attach it to the front stem. The size is astounding; the light is slightly larger than a golf ball, while the battery is about the size of an iPhone folded lengthwise. The light also comes with a helmet mount, which costs extra on many other light systems. The charger can be used in 110V or 220V outlets, which is a plus if you go overseas, and is very fast compared to NiMH chargers.

There are 6 modes, which are separately grouped into (high, medium, low) and (flashing, walking, SOS).Simply pressing the power button will start the light in high mode, with repeated presses cycling through medium, low, then high again and so on.The light can be started in flashing mode by holding down the power button for a few seconds and releasing, when the light is off, and can be cycled to walking and SOS, then back to flashing by pressing the button. There is also a three-LED battery gauge which "blinks" more slowly as the battery is drained.

Rated battery life for each mode: High=3.5hrs, Medium=5hrs, Low=17hrs,Flashing=50hrs, Walking=100hrs, SOS=100hrs.

The beam pattern is rather wide (compared to cheap LED lights), which is optimal for mountain biking.I would have preferred a more narrow and brighter beam for road use, but it does light up the pavement 100-200 feet in front as well as signs from thousands of feet away!
I prefer to use the "medium" setting at night, as it is rated for 5 hours, which means I only have to charge it once a week, and it still puts out a ton of light. In the daytime, I usually go with one of the two strobe options that are available for visibility.

I have not had any issues with this light while riding in rain or snow (not waterproof see UPDATE1), or when it was -10F outside. The light and battery are well sealed.

The only weirdness with this light is that it will automatically turn on in high mode when you plug in the battery, so you have to remember to turn it off.Otherwise, the light will stay on until the battery is drained. Also, when the battery is almost dead, the light will begin to flash on and off uncontrollably, which was not documented in the instructions.

Overall, this light is a terrific value in its class, if you are doing nighttime on or off road riding often, consider this light as it is a high-quality product that should last for many years.

UPDATE1: After three months of use, I have found that water can seep into the light through the button on top, which was causing the light to function sporadically. The light is completely sealed by rubber gaskets except for along the button and at the battery plug.I pulled out the button for a day, let the headlight dry, and now it works fine again, so I have put a large piece of clear packaging tape across the button so that water cannot get in through there.

UPDATE2: After nine months, the battery would no longer charge (the LED light on the charger was orange, a mix of red and green alternating rapidly).Fortunately, Cygolite allowed me to return the light system for repair and replaced the battery free under the one-year warranty (sent it in on a Friday and got it back the next Tuesday). The new battery looks the same except for having a different logo, so maybe it's better.I was very pleased with their excellent customer support, and will buy more of their products in the future.

UPDATE3: Announced August 1st 2010, Cygolite will be offering the Mitycross 400 and 320 for the 2011 year (price TBD), which I suspect will replace the respective Mitycross 350 and 300 models very soon. They will offer the same 3.5/17 hours high/low battery life, and have the same 240g system weight.

New Energizer Rechargeable Nimh AA Batteries Per 4 For High-Drain Or Frequently-Used Devices Review

New Energizer Rechargeable Nimh AA Batteries Per 4 For High-Drain Or Frequently-Used Devices
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product is advertised as the NEW Energizer Rechargeable NiMH AA Batteries. But once you received it, you may be shocked to find out that: the rated capacity of those NEW batteries is just '2300mAh', lower than the previous generation of '2500mAh' Energizer NiMH cells. So are you really getting a new and improved product, or just some old inventory from many years ago?

The fact is, Energizer has discontinued the '2500mAh' series of rechargeable AA NiMH cells, presumably due to massive complaints about rapid-self-discharge problem. All new Energizer rechargeable AA cells on the market now are rated '2300mAh'.

I have tested four of those new cells, using the Discharge/Refresh function of my La Crosse BC-900 charger/analyzer. Here are my findings:
- Fresh out of the package, those cells hold an average of 330mAh, or just 14% of the full capacity.
- After fully charging them for the first time, the hold an average of 1040mAh.
- After two more discharge/charge cycles, the average capacity improved to 2340mAh

Based on the above observations, I can conclude that those NEW Energizer cells are just ordinary NiMH cells with lower capacity. They are not the LSD (low-self-discharge) type pioneered by SANYO eneloop. This is very disappointing, because other name-brand battery makers have already introduced LSD products similar to eneloop, such as the Rayovac Hybrid and Duracell Pre Charged. In contrast, the Energizer Bunny simply 'rolled back' its battery technology to circa 2004.

In summary, those so-called 'New' Energizer NiMH cells have capacity just slightly higher than LSD NiMH cells (2000-2100mAh), yet do not offer the advantage of lower self discharge rate. As of this writing, this product is priced at nearly 2x higher than LSD cells. So it is just a bad deal.

The only positive thing I can say about those 2300mAh Energizer cells is: they _probably_ don't leak as badly as previous generation of 2500mAh cells.

Brunton SOLO 15 Amp/Hr Lithium-Polymer Storage Device Review

Brunton SOLO 15 Amp/Hr Lithium-Polymer Storage Device
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I ordered a Brunton SOLO 15 hoping it would be the perfect portable power pack for keeping a laptop going for a few hours in my LR3 (Land Rover). Land Rovers do not provide 12V power unless the engine is running, so you need to have a power pack(s) in the vehicle. The big attraction of the SOLO 15 was the small size and low weight (4 pounds). I'm getting tired of lugging around the big jump-starter packs containing lead acid batteries, so the SOLO 15 was particularly attractive because it is definitely the *lightest* power pack available with that same amount of juice. It's also small enough to stash under the back seats of a Land Rover, and it easily fits in a small backpack too.

Because it is a lithium pack, rather than a lead-acid pack, you won't hurt it at all if it drains down to empty. Whereas if you do that to a lead-acid battery, it won't hold nearly the same charge from that point forward. Lithium polymer technology for rechargeable batteries is excellent in every technical parameter, and this Brunton device seemed to make the cost of that technology very competitive with other types of batteries, like lead-acid.Soooo ... if the *flaws* get worked out with the SOLO 15 ... then it will be something really special.

I received my first Brunton SOLO 15 last week from Amazon. It looked great, and its package included an array of sturdy cables & connectors, and a nice, quiet little inverter unit that is *not* built-in to the battery. That was a good idea, really, because that means you can use a different inverter if necessary. Inverters will sometimes fry, or debris will get into the cooling fan and make noise, etc. Good idea to keep the two components separate, if you're wanting the most dependable system you can put together.

I would have expected the inverter to be the weak link in the chain, but it's the battery pack that is so flawed.

I charged it up overnight. It had a full charge when I started using it, and it did keep my laptop going for a few hours, as expected. But when the power output level eventually started dropping I pushed the button on the face of the unit to show the battery level, while the unit was still plugged in to the laptop (the manual says you can do that) ... then all the LEDs flashed at once, and then went out completely.

I tried charging up the unit overnight again, and it won't hold a charge now. The green LED's (showing the battery level) do not work at all.I would have been willing to live with it if the green LEDs merely didn't work. I would have simply used my multimeter to check the batter level. But the whole unit is fried.Nothing works.

I did not expect this to happen with an expensive lithium-based power pack. Obviously there's some weak parts in the main circuit board, based on my own experience, and what I gleaned from other reviews. The Chinese manufacturers apparently didn't test these devices enough (not as much as an American manufacturer would have done) before mass producing them. The current iteration of SOLO 15 battery packs might work ... but might have to be treated with kit gloves. Thankfully Amazon's return policy makes it easy for me to send back the unit and receive a replacement without having to wait very long.

While I'm waiting I ordered another SOLO 15 pack. I planned on getting two of them originally.I want to make very sure that I'm not throwing out the baby with the bath water. I want to give these little devices a chance, and just assume I got a bad one. So I'll soon have two brand new ones. I'm going to use them both a lot in the first 30 days to see if they fry before I am unable to get a refund.

I also ordered a Brunton Solar Panel (15 watt) and have received it and tested it a bit with a multimeter.

As with the Brunton SOLO 15 battery pack, the solar panel looks great, and it comes with nice sturdy cables and connectors ... and it kicks out a lot of power for its size. The only flaw I have found with this panel is .... the power cord, specifically where it enters into the frame of the solar panel. The cord is very vulnerable and unprotected at that *protruding* part of the frame. It will fray and break eventually if the panel is moved around a lot.

I will be taking the solar panel(s) in and out of vehicles a lot, and bumping them around, and driving down bad roads with them, etc., so the vulnerable point of the cord needed to be reinforced somehow. I had to create and attach my own protector bracket in back of where the power cable enters the frame, to make sure the cord does not get tugged at that point. The cord is ALREADY starting to show the slight signs of weakening and fraying from too much bending and pulling ... and that was after the first day of using it.... The outer sheath has pulled away, exposing the red and black wires of the power cord. Both wires are slighty kinked from having been tugged along the edge of the entry point into the frame.

My sense is the solar panel will not fail if the power cord does not fail. That would be nice. Keeping my fingers crossed.

---------------------------------------------------

Update on the Brunton experiments.

First, regarding Brunton solar panels:

I have removed the two 15 Watt solar panels from my vehicle, and replaced them with one Solaris 52.I've tested them side-by-side in the bright California sun for a few days now. The Solaris 52 is fantastic. It is much better than 2 of the 15 Watt panels side by side.To think I'd need four (4) of those 15 watt panels to equal the output of one Solaris 52. The Solaris 52 is expensive ($650), but it is so versatile and stashable and powerful that I can't imagine being without one now.I've recently ordered a second one.

Regarding the Brunton SOLO 15 battery ... They are a bit too delicate.

One problem for Brunton is that some web sites claim the SOLO 15 battery can be used to power a laptop. They are really not designed for that. They can recharge a laptop pretty well, but running the laptop while the laptop battery is being recharged tends to drain it very quickly, and possibly even hurt it. Better off letting it recharge a laptop battery with the laptop off, then unhooking it from the laptop when running the laptop.

The bigger problem is something Brunton will need to address with a little slip of paper included in the box -- a slip of paper warning users that although the manual claims you can power a device with the SOLO 15 *while* the SOLO 15 is being recharged ... that can easily ruin these batteries if you're powering a laptop. The folks at Brunton can check this themselves.I have damaged two of these batteries now by doing that:Powering a laptop while the SOLO 15 was being recharged by another 12v battery pack. The first time I was using the little included inverter. The second time I was powering a laptop with a 12v car adapter for the laptop.

After you use it that way the battery may still show that is has a charge, but it won't take a charge anymore. The red LED does not even come on, and the little LED on the Brunton AC charger is blinking, indicating that there's a problem charging the battery.I know that is what it means because I have two batteries and two AC chargers, so I can swap the charges between the one SOLO 15 that still works, and the one that is malfunctioning.

The absolute ideal portable laptop battery would be about the same size and shape as the SOLO 15, with perhaps more power, but better fault protection, even if that means accessible fuses. They should also consider adding a liquid crystal screen that could show charge level, and whether the input current or output current is too much or too little. Then it would be the perfect small portable 12v battery for taking into the field, or even taking around the house or the yard where there might be no AC outlets ...

I use this penlight everyday at work. This light is very bright. This is a great neuro assessment tool.Use it like a pen to check your patient's Babinski reflex.Great for checking your patient's pupils.Use it length-wise on your patient's nailbeds to check for response to light pain.
Additionally if you work long nights like I do, this is a great tool to check on your patients without turning on the lights unnecessarily.I use this to check foley and chest tube output in the dark.
Are you in the ER?Have a psych patient sleeping that you need to check on?Shine this high intensity low spread light on your patient's chest all the way from the door to observe the rise and fall of their chest without waking them up.
This would make a great gift to a new RN grad.Looks professional. Not bulky like some other penlights I've seen.Clip ensures it won't fall out of your scrub pocket.

I got the charger and was surprised how light it is first of all, like 1/2 the weight of a battery tender. Of course "Made in China" on the box, so I was not real hopeful. Remove it from the box and it looks like a well made unit. First hook it to the battery, then plug it in and it has the LEDs that indicate hookup is correct ect, then the bottom charge light lights, the next 3 light above it flash to indicate charging, then the lights to the right of there indicate the approx percent of charge the battery is at. I volt tested the battery before hooking it up and it was sitting at 11.4 so definately in need of charge. The 25% charge light was lit, then quickly moved up to 75%. Hooked a logging multimeter up for an amp test the entire time. Initial hookup showed 2.5A, tapering down gradually to 0.7A. Entire charge took 6 1/2 hours, then the charge light goes off, the 100% light is lit and the charger goes into storage mode. In this mode the charger sits at 0A and pulses a quick burst of 1.5A at intervals of about 5 seconds apart. It equates to an average of only about 0.10A. So the charger does truly shut down and go into storage mode as advertised and can be left on indefinately and not cook the battery. Two more things I like about it are it's silent, where the battery tender can be buzzy and runs barely warm to the touch where the battery tender gets dang hot. I'm impressed.

I originally saw this at a Bass Pro Shop and was amazed at the brightness and distance the light traveled. It was $69.99 there, I got it for $54.00 from Amazon(huge deal!). I researched quite a lot of rechargeable spotlights before getting this one. And narrowed it down to 4(See here:[...]
The long lasting battery of the LED lights was a huge selling point over the Halogen and HID ones. And this had over double the lumen rating(240 vs 530)compared to the Cyclops CYC-9WS LED Spotlight(The #1 Rechargeable Flashlight at the time of this review) so thats what ultimately made me get this one. I'm not sure why no one has reviewed this baby on Amazon yet. I assume it's because Amazon doesn't keep enough in stock for people to buy.(I got the last one in stock btw). But it has a 5 star rating from 35 reviewers at [...]
I highly recommend this one, if its not in stock at Amazon for $54 when you read this, head over to Walmart's site and get it there for the same price: [...]
- Great Deal, since the MSRP is $69.99!

So in a nutshell:
PROS:
-Long Battery Life (2.5 hours), Halogen and HID bulbs only last ~20-40 min, respectively.
-Super Bright (530 Lumens)
-Very Nice Flood + Spotlight combination - Great for caves.
-Super long throw (Haven't fully tested the distance yet, but it has to be a couple hundred feet, I will update this review when I max it out)
-LED bulbs last basically forever.
-Rechargeable Battery is replaceable.
-Use while plugged into a 12V car adapter or unplug to take anywhere.
-$54 + Free Shipping is a great deal!
-3 Year Manufacturers warranty.

CONS:
-Takes 16 hours to charge from dead to full battery.(Not really a big deal for me)

Fenix TK11R2 2 Level High Performance Cree LED Flashlight, Black, 6- Inch Review

Fenix TK11R2 2 Level High Performance Cree LED Flashlight, Black, 6- Inch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this light around 6 months ago. I also purchased two 18650 rechargable 3.7 volt Li-ion protected batteries. I have only had to recharge the batteries once since the initial charge in this timeframe. I work nights as a police officer and use this light all of the time around half of an hour several days a week. I also own a Novatac 120T, Blackhawk Gladius and Surefire 6p as well as many other lights. This has been the most battery efficient tactical light I have ever owned, as all the others eat the CR 123 batteries like candy.

The beam is a combination of flood light and spot. It works excellent for searching having a combination of both beams. I highly recommend this light as it costs much less and outperforms any of my other lights. The light appears to be well made and feels very sturdy in your hand.

I'm a flashlight lover. I have over eight different flashlights. I bought this one because I lost my Leatherman one, which according what I could found it is the same body. Honestly it is stronger than the Leatherman one. And this one has a secundary option as a strobo light, which for security jobs is a plus.
I'm happy and very satisfied with that.

Coleman 12-Volt QuickPump Water Resistant Air Pump with Hose and Battery Clips Review

Coleman 12-Volt QuickPump Water Resistant Air Pump with Hose and Battery Clips
Average Reviews:

I was very pleased with this product and used it about 10 times before the part that plugs into the cigarette lighter cracked. I managed to get a couple more uses out of it until the plastic quite literally crumbled. The housing of the pump itself is fairly well constructed but the plug is ridiculously poor quality, so I suggest using it gently.I'm still looking for a replacement but do not recommend this product at this price.

Product Description:
Sealed lead Acid Batteries, No filling, Maintenece Free. Used in many Motorcycle, Snow Mobile , ATV and Watercraft Applications. L = 5.98 x W = 3.43 H = 5.16, terminals as pictured (Positive - L, Negative - R). Batteries are shipped shipped charged and ready to install. 12 Month Warranty. Our sealed motorcycle batteries feature Absorbed Glass Mat technology (AGM for short). This design dramatically improves a battery's performance in the following areas: A) True sealed and maintenance-free design, you'll never have to check or add electrolyte again, unlike conventional batteries which require periodic fluid checks. B) Liquid-free AGM design, will not leak or corrode on expensive paint and chrome, and also eliminates corrosion around the battery terminals. C) AGM batteries have less internal resistance which allows them to produce more discharge current (cold cranking amperage) vs. comparable conventional "wet" batteries, and AGM batteries also recharge faster D) Better resistance to both heat and vibration, a major cause of failure in conventional motorcycle batteries E) Much slower self-discharge rate, (3% vs.15% per month) means longer periods between battery recharging over periods of non-use, like winter months or vacations.

Maglite RN7019 NIMH Battery Heavy-Duty Rechargeable Flashlight System, Black Review

Maglite RN7019 NIMH Battery Heavy-Duty Rechargeable Flashlight System, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've always been a fan of Maglite products, so when my mother-in-law said that her husband's rechargeable flashlight went kaput, I searched on the internet and found this Maglite RN7019 for his father's day gift.
I ordered it on Wednesday with two day shipping, and when it came in on Friday, I was going to put the initial charge on for him so it would be ready to go.To my dismay, I found, there is nothing in this system that allows you to plug it into the wall.Although it comes standard in the RN6019 or RN1019, you have to purchase it separately in the 7019.I bought the MAGLITE ARXX195 MAG Charger 120 Volt AC Converter V2 and the MAGLITE ARXX205 MAG Charger 12 Volt DC Cord with Cigarette Lighter Adapter V2 and of course had to pay for next day shipping as Father's Day was that coming Sunday.I didn't get to put the full initial 24 hour charge on the flashlight as I was out of time.Had I known, I would've bought it all at the same time. Now, I've got well over $100 wrapped up in this flashlight that I could've bought in a package for much cheaper in the MAGLITE RN1019.

For the MAGLITE RN7019, the phrase "Rechargeable Flashlight SYSTEM" is a bit misleading. However, my father-in-law thinks the flashlight is great.

Razor E300S Seated Electric Scooter Review

Razor E300S Seated Electric Scooter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This seated Razor scooter is very well constructed, and even though it has only been test-driven one time because of adverse weather conditions, it seems to reach an adequate top speed. However:if planning to purchase the E300S Razor, be aware that the scooter will only operate for a maximum of forty (40) minutes, after which it takes at least eight (8) hours of recharging to prepare it for another forty (40) minutes of use.
It is also noted in the directions that the two (2) 12 volt batteries can be recharged about 200 times before they have to be replaced. This means if the scooter is used and recharged every day, the batteries will have to be replaced in just a little over six (6) months. These are two things that need to be considered before making a purchase.

Rapala Rechargeable Cordless Electric Fillet Knife Review

Rapala Rechargeable Cordless Electric Fillet Knife
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is nice to have the liberty to not deal with chords hanging or worrying about power nearby... I prefer it over the plug in.. however the plugin will have a higher repetition of movements than the battery version, but not enough to warrant a buying decision.

NON-Rechargeable plugin - The only negative is that the plugin gets quite hot... as after about 20 fish, I have to start blowing in the vent holes to cool the motor... part of the vent fins are right where your hand goes and so plugs the holes.. but so far the knife still works great.

Rechargeable version - Works great!... my only negative is that if you get the battery wet "like a wave splash on it", it may not work the next day... at least mine worked perfect until that happened and I tried to use it again later.. now that particular battery flashes wildly from red to green on the charger when attempting a charge.. the knife still works great with the other battery.

You do have to learn how to press the button "down" and then pull the switch back to activate the blades... an extra safety measure that can be annoying.. the plugin doesn't have that issue.

Each battery will clean about 30 fish before dieing. A very nice tool to have away from power or when you hate fighting with chords.

When they release this in a Lithium Ion version, it will be the cats meow!
