(More customer reviews)I bought one for emergencies, to have in case of blackout or earthquake.I was hoping the light would be bright enough so I could use it to pass the time by reading.Even at full charge it's not that bright, and after about 2 hours, the light drops off drastically.The radio only picks up the most powerful stations.

Don't lose the box!!!!!It features important operating instructions like "DON'T CHARGE THE BATTERY FOR MORE THAN 5 HOURS", and "DON'T WIND THE DYNAMO FOR MORE THAN 15 MINUTES" and "ALWAYS KEEP THE SWITCH AT SOLAR POSITION UNLESS USE THE OTHER TWO POSITIONS."These things are pretty important because they either drain the battery or wreck it.This is essential operating info.I used a Sharpie to write these instructions on the bottom of the lantern.It's not pretty, but at least I don't have to keep the box handy and I don't have to worry about wrecking the thing because I forgot the instructions.

(More customer reviews)I am a very frequent battery user, and I have used nearly every battery technology out there. I saw this and thought it would be a great idea, seeing that standard rechargeable NiCd or NiMH batteries are only 1.2 volts, and if you let them sit for a couple weeks they eventually drain.
Plain and simple, it doesn't work. Great concept, but nearly every battery I put in it leaked the first time around. I've tried cheap batteries, name brand batteries, old, new, everything. The cheap batteries have about a 75% chance of leaking, and the name brand batteries are about 50% chance. Be careful, because they don't usually leak while charging, they leak a couple days after they are taken out of the charger. The charger is slow, usually taking a 1-3 days to charge the batteries, which is fine with me, because I always had a stockpile ready to go in after the next ones came out. Sometimes after charging was complete, the batteries were still dead. Other times the charge light never turned off I've run about 70 batteries through my charger, nearly all with the same result: acid, or still dead. Get some alkaline batteries that were designed to be recharged, that's what I've done. Don't fool around with this. I really wish it would have worked :(

(More customer reviews)I have been using the Sigma Smilux and Cuberider in Boston for several months. They are well built and the headlight comes with rechargeable batteries and charger. The tail light is fantastic; it is bright, has flashing modes and is easily removeable so you can take it with you when you park your bike. The head light is also easily removeable although I am concerned that after time the attachment arm will break. Also, I have received complaints from both drivers and pedestrians that the headlight is blinding. It is not really intended to be a safety device to alert drivers but more to illuminate trails and dark areas for the rider. I now have it turned almost directly at the ground on flashing mode and it works well that way. Basically if you are living in a city, a flashing led headlamp with less lumens might be more appropriate.

I think the epson salt would have been better used as fertilizer, and I wouldn't have wasted an entire afternoon following the included instructions. I would NOT recommend this to anyone. Go check the blogs... this 'recipe' has been around a long time, and the old adage remains...'if it sounds too good, it probably is. Don't waste yourtime.
I now have 6 new batteries and my cart is performing like/better than new.

The Stinger comes with two charging cradles and an AC cord and DC cord so you can have one in your car and one at home. Therefore you can always have your Stinger charging to be used whenever you need it. The extra bulb in the tailcap is also nice.
+'s: small, bright, fits easy in your hands, adjustable beam, 1 hour run time, you can charge the battery without taking it out of the flashlight, charging cradles allow you to place the flashlight from the top or "snapped" in from the front.
-'s: long charge time unless you buy the "fast" charger.
If you need to constantly use a flashlight that is small but powerful (security guard, handyman, plumber), the Stinger will not disappoint you. The rechargeable battery will save you money in the long run.
Although expensive, it is good quality and I would buy this flashlight again. For a brighter light, check out the Stinger HP which is rated almost 3 times as bright.

It works great, and that's the problem. you can stick it in your gloves, shoes etc.
but when the batteries (sealed batteries not replaceable) when they go dead....what are you gonna do for $34 price tag.

Well it came with a HOME AC wall charger....who is going to use it in the home.
It should have came with what most everyone bought it for...the outdoors, and came with a car charger, where it could be recharged on the go. Or even the option to stick in some fresh batteries.

So with the heavy snow storms just before christmas, and everything warm and cozy..the unit runs out of juice. I could have plugged it into my car lighter socket, but it only has the AC wall charger.....so i'm done for the day with this hand warmer.

(More customer reviews)I loved this little device!I'm a baseball fan and used this on nearly a daily basis, since April, carrying it from room to room in the evenings.I'd wind up my radio, pull up a chair and let the scene unfold before me as told though the poetic musings of Vin Scully and his beloved Dodgers, each broadcast the elocutionary equivalent of a Norman Rockwell masterpiece.

Last night, after 4 months of solid use, the plastic handle of the charging crank snapped right off.I wasn't turning the crank particularly hard.I don't suppose this device was engineered for as regular use as I put it through.It's probably perfect as a storeaway for emergenices type use.In any case It's cheap enough that I won't hesitate in buying another.

One other small reservation, and again it would only seem to be an issue in the case of heavy use:The plastic body casing seemed to regularly buckle ever so slightly during cranking, so much so that I figured the case might eventually crack open due to wear before anything else would go wrong.Also when gripping the unit for cranking it's difficult not to mash (and turn) the control dials during the act of cranking.On my unit the light switch seems to be spring loaded and switches and locks itself into the on and off positions.It was very common for the light to activate due to incidental squeeze pressure during cranking, then the switch failing to 'catch' when pressing the button to turn off, leaving the light stuck on 'on', only turning off finally after multiple forceful presses.

Again I never expected to enjoy this little gadget as much as I did.As a kid, another L.A. radio icon, Dr. Demento would open each show with his signature schtick: "Wind up your radios boys and girls...!".I never had a wind up radio until now.

I just survived the Blizzard of 2010 in Washington DC with no electricity for three days. This lantern was charged up and ready to go before the storm, and was able to get us through the three days of power outage with about 3 -5 hours per night of judicious use. This lantern works best if hung above eye level as the LED light is probably too bright for most people.However, this lantern gives off sufficient light for reading at night with no eye strain.This is a huge plus when the only entertainment during a blizzard with no electricity is a good book!I used night light, lo and hi settings, and I found that there was significant changes in illumination from setting to setting. The power cable and car charging unit can be stored inside of the lantern base. I leave mine plugged into the wall outlet for on-demand lighting when needed. I particularly like the car charger capability, although I have not yet had occasion to use it. Overall, great product for the intended use of emergency lighting in the home or light for the campsite.

(More customer reviews)This is for everyone who gave this quad a bad review because the charge does not last more then five minutes or less. I purchased this dirt quad for my 8-year-old son and like some of you I was quite disappointed with the quad's charge longevity. The quad did not last five minutes before my son was wheeling it back into the garage for a charge, and it was brand new! At first I thought like the rest of you who experienced this same problem, "It was just an expensive piece of junk". But I noticed when the battery went dead and we put it on charge the light on the charger would go from red to green in just a few minutes, a lot less then the recommended charge time. So I figured maybe the charger was no good. Luckily we also own the Razor go-cart, which uses the same charger and always worked great. So I swapped out the chargers but the go-cart still charged fine. And the charger on the quad still turned from red to green in just a few minutes and still died out fast. So I went to Razor's website and contacted their customer support. They told me the problem sounded like a bad battery and explained that even though the quad is brand new it may have been sitting around in a warehouse for months, even years with the battery connected. If the battery goes a long time connected to the ATV and never on charge, the battery will eventually go bad. The battery should always stay on charge even when not used for long periods of time. They were right! They sent me a brand new battery free of charge, after I sent them a copy of my receipt proving I bought the quad within the warranty period, less then 90 days. As soon as we received the battery, I changed it out and all I can say is "what a change"! The quad is strong as can be and I could honestly say that even driving it up and down hills on rocky terrain the dirt quad lasts well past 30 minutes, about as long as my son lasts. And it still shows a full charge on the power indicator when he is done. It is like a completely different machine from the one we started out with. So to anyone here who thinks they got stuck with a piece of junk, go right to Razor before your 90 day warranty expires and file your complaint. They have an excellent customer service department and will contact you within 24 hours, you will not be sorry. I am very satisfied with Razor and even more satisfied every time I see my son's face now on his new dirt quad.

(More customer reviews)Makita makes 2 different sets of Lithium-Ion tools.The 3.0 amp hour tools (LXT) and the 1.5 amp hour tools (compact).The LXT tools do not work with the "compact" batteries.This can be fixed easily though.The 3.0 amp hour batteries and the 1.5 amp hour batteries both give the same power.There are simply twice as many cells in the 3.0 battery than there is in the 1.5 battery which means that the 3.0 battery will last twice as long.Makita did some market research when they were going to first introduce the 1.5 batteries and found that if a customer put the 1.5 battery on the LXT tools, they tended to say that the tools themselves were no good because of the battery life when in fact it was the fault of the smaller battery.What they did is put a square of plastic on the LXT tools (where the battery slides on) to prevent the smaller battery to fit in the tool.That square does not exist on the 1.5 amp hour tools so the 1.5 amp hour tools will actually take both types of batteries.It is actually very easy to punch out that square of plastic and then be able to use your batteries with the flashlight or any other LXT tool that you may purchase (once the plastic squares have been punched out on the tools).Just be aware that they will last half as long as they would with the 3.0 amp hour batteries.I learned all of this from Makita so I can guarantee that this will not damage your flashlight, the battery, or any other LXT tool.
